It’s fair to say the 250 Series Toyota Prado is a hugely anticipated vehicle. It’s predecessor 150 Series was much-loved and admired, even though it was very long in the tooth by the time it was retired.

So comprehensive has the overhaul been it’s justifiable to call the 250 Series Pardo all-new. But that doesn’t mean it is automatically best in the 4x4 off-road wagon class, especially considering some of the criticism and setbacks it’s copped.

That includes going home from a carsales test on a flatbed truck after the hybrid system failed. So what better way to assess the new Prado’s true qualifications by putting it up against its most logical competition, the Ford Everest?. In this case it’s the battle of the family favourites, the Prado GXL taking on the Everest Sport. Let battle commence!
